Do you have the most essential kitchen tools in your kitchen? After starting my YouTube channel last year, I realized I was missing a great deal of important tools in my kitchen. Besides the obvious, good knives, mixing bowls, measuring cups and spoons, what should every kitchen have? I’ve slowly been adding what I can here and there. Today however, I thought I’d share some of the tools I have been using and loving and why you need to add them to your kitchen today!
Why do you need these essential tools?
Glad you asked! 😊 Because if you are a mom and short on time, these are the tools that will make your time in the kitchen easier. Sit back, grab your cup of warm coffee (or whatever you’d like to drink) and let’s get started!

I married a Cuban so what does that mean for me? Learn how to make rice! I’m not talking about Success 10-minute Rice, (which I still use on occasion for quick meals) I’m talking about the Goya bag of rice! I can’t even tell you how I struggled with the water to rice ratio until my mother-in-law introduced me to this Microwave rice cooker! What a life saver! Although I did have a little trial and error in the beginning, after going through it with my mother-in-law, I was able to get it down to perfection. Add, oil, a pinch of salt, the amount of rice and water you want to make and voila! Perfectly cooked Rice! It has been a game changer in my world of rice making. It will be a useful tool to have in your kitchen too!
I have written about these bags before, but they are worth mentioning again. Grilled cheese sandwiches are Alex’s favorite thing to eat! I should also mention it’s only one of a handful of foods he will eat. Ugh story for another day. These are the best! Place the cheese of your choice in between two slices of bread, stick in the pouch and in the toaster. That’s all you need to do to get to the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. You can also make panini sandwiches as well! They are so easy to clean, a little dish soap, and water and that’s it. You can get about 10 uses out of them before you’ll need to throw them out. I recommend getting a large pack to keep on hand.
How many times have you destroyed a perfectly good avocado trying to open it? I know it has happened to me in the past a few times. I found this amazing avocado cutter and the rest is history. You can use on end to cut it in half, one side grabs the avocado pit to easily remove it. If you want those perfectly sliced pieces of avocado, the slicer makes it easy to do so.

I think we can all agree that food storage containers have come a long way. It took some time, but I finally found my forever food storage containers. I found these through a friend who highly recommended them and I’m so glad she did. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes! I love them. They seal the lid completely and lock on the sides to keep your food fresh. It’s amazing how long I can keep fruits and vegetables, leftovers, you name it, but it keeps everything fresh longer. The best part to me is how awesome and easy they are to clean. Especially if you have had to store any leftover pasta sauces, or gravies, you know how difficult the old plastic containers can be to clean. These clean beautifully, in and out of the dish washer. I highly recommend you give these a try.
Last summer, we planted all our lettuce. We had a variety of different kinds of leaves, and it was nice to be able to make a good salad with our own home-grown lettuce. Of course, being in the ground you want to be able to wash it thoroughly and this is where the salad spinner really came in handy. I love that I can collect all the leaves in the basket and then directly submerge them into the spinner to wash clean. It’s so easy and it does such a great job. I also don’t like my lettuce to wilt, so the spinning part is also a great option to remove all the access water from your lettuce. I’m looking forward to this year’s salad garden as well.
Honestly, if you only pick up one of these five kitchen tools, you are heading in the right direction towards an easier time spent in the kitchen. Let me know in the comments below if you think you’ll try any of these and if you do, please don’t forget to let me know how you like it. I’d love to hear from you!
