Swagging And Fetching To Disney!

Let’s face it when it comes to planning a Disney World vacation for your family, it can be very expensive. I knew this would be a huge expense for us when we started planning and budgeting for our trip, so I started doing my usual research on Pinterest and YouTube for Disney budgeting help! So, I wanted to share some ways I’ve been able to put a little extra money aside for our trip. By no means am I able to cover the whole trip with these tips, but I can tell you I’ve read that many are able to if they start early enough.

So, the first way I’m making extra money is by using the website and mobile app, called Swagbucks. I had heard of this website last year and I gave it a try but honestly, just didn’t have the patience for it. But when my best friend told me how much she was able to save in Disney gift cards using this website, I decided I had to try it again.

Let me explain how it works. Swagbucks is a website that provides different ways in which you can participate to earn Swagbucks. In return these Swagbucks can be used to earn different types of gift cards. Some of ways in which you can earn Swagbucks is by taking surveys, watching videos, and shopping at certain stores.

Once you create your account and log onto the main page, every day they provide a daily check off list to help you get the most Swagbucks in a day. I will admit, I don’t always make it through the checklist. Also let me make this disclaimer here, this is not an easy way to a make a few bucks. It does require you to work at it daily and like my friend says, “You will need to work it like a part time job.”  She wasn’t kidding!  I have only been doing it a few months and just recently was able to cash in enough Swagbucks to purchase a $50.00 Visa gift card. Once I received it, I immediately went online and ordered a $50.00 Disney gift card! I now have a total of $200 in Disney gift cards. This will come in handy and by the time we leave in November, I hope to be able to Swag for a little more.

If you are interested in joining Swagbucks, I’m happy to share my referral with you. Remember, you do not have to purchase Visa gift cards, they have plenty of other choices including gift cards to Amazon, Macy’s and other retailers. If you are interested in joining Swagbucks, please use my referral link to sign up. It doesn’t cost anything to join, but you can save a little money for your next Disney trip, or to make a future gift card purchase at your favorite retailer.

The other way I’ve been able to save some money towards our trip is an app I am using called Fetch. Fetch is different than Swagbucks. Fetch is a very simple app to use and it’s available on both iPhone and Android. Everyone goes food shopping and shops their local drugstores such as CVS or Walgreens. All you need to do is scan your receipt from your shopping trip and you will earn points on the products that you have purchased. Just like Swagbucks, you can then earn rewards in return for the points you accumulated. Sometimes Fetch will offer huge point returns on specific items and that is super helpful to increase your total point amount. You’d be surprised how many points you can rack up from weekly food shopping. Currently, I’m at about 17K points, and I haven’t redeemed my points just yet, but getting closer to doing so. Also, again, this is not a quick money-making process. It does take time to build up your points, but any little bit helps, so I am going to continue to Fetch my receipts! Some of the ways in which you can be rewarded is a Master/Visa gift card, gift cards to fashion retailers, home goods, restaurants, travel and spas. If you’d like to join Fetch and start earning some points, I am happy to share my referral code,
FN3HW with you. Download Fetch free here. When you sign up and scan your first receipt, we both get 2,000 points!

I hope that you have found these two resources helpful for earning some extra money whether it be for a Disney trip or any other vacation destination you may have this summer. I’ll be sure and let you know how much I am able to save for our trip before we leave. I’ve heard some testimonials where users were able to pay for their entire vacation using Swagbucks, Fetch or both. Let me know in the comments below if you decide to join or if you have any other websites/apps that help you save money too!

Instagram post 2195149615605604716_9061533185 Good morning and happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. I finally got some sleep last night and feeling much better this morning. My dad is doing okay but this morning he was feeling a little lightheaded again. He has his doctors appointment tomorrow. Tomorrow night Michael will be in his first holiday show! I can’t wait to see how he does. In the mean time, I thought I’d share a few of their Christmas pictures through the years. Have a great week! #autism #autismmom #autismawareness #specialneeds #specialneedsfamily #mommyblogger

Instagram post 2194543681518791908_9061533185 Good afternoon friends!
First I want to thank you all for your messages and prayers for my dad. He was released this morning and is here at my house resting. His blood pressure was back to normal and his blood work was good too. He will need to follow up with his cardiologist in the next few days.
For those of you who do not know, my dad has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He just completed a 5 day radiation treatment right before we left for Disney. He has his PETscan in January and his doctors are hopeful for a positive response.
We had a great time last night up until I received the news about my dad. I’m thankful we were all in the city at the same time. I’m so grateful that he’s okay. We got home about 3:30, and Michael was awake. I’ve been up since then. I’m really tired but pushing through.
I have more pictures from last night to share and if I can stay awake long enough, I’ll post what I can. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. #nyc #saksfifthavenue #christmas #rockefellercenter #radiocitymusichall #autism #autismawareness #autismmom #specialneedsfamily #mommyblogger

Instagram post 2193023076172715156_9061533185 Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week and are ready for the weekend. I'm looking forward to our weekend because on Saturday, we are having a double date night with my sister and brother in law. We plan on visiting the holiday shops over in Bryant Park, then head over to see the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. If you've been following me for a while, you know I've been trying to get over there for the last two years. Of course, we pick the coldest dam day to do this, but I will bundle myself up and go for it! This afternoon, I'm headed over to see Alex in his Holiday Concert and tonight, I'll be at my company Christmas party. It's always busy and sometimes a stressful time of the year. For me, it’s bittersweet. Whereas I love this time of the year, it’s also difficult because I lost my mom two days after Christmas almost six years ago. I prefer to stay as busy and distracted as possible. I hope you are enjoying this season and spending it with your family and friends. I’ll be sure to share some pictures and videos of my weekend. My sister seemed to enjoy sharing our Disney trip on my stories, something tells me she will be “camera ready” tomorrow evening! 😂😜Have a great weekend! #friday #weekend #mommyblogger #christmas #holidayseason #autismmom #autism #autismawareness #specialneeds #specialneedsfamily #fridaymood #family #autismparents #autismacceptance

We had a very quiet weekend at home, but we are looking forward to Thanksgiving this week. This year we will be having Thanksgiving at my sister and brother in law's house. My brother in law is a great cook, he's in charge of the Turkey. I love to cook too, so I'll be making lasagna as well. Instagram post 2179989435632997880_9061533185 In the past I have written about special needs families finding it difficult to go out and leave their homes. In order to avoid the stress or worrying about what other people think, trips to the mall, a restaurant or any other public place, is just not an option. I get it. It’s so much easier to avoid everyone and just stay home. However, we decided as a family this was not an option for us and we go everywhere. We go places and do everything we want as a family because, quite frankly, why shouldn’t we?
Yesterday, we decided to go out to eat for lunch at a restaurant that we eat at quite often in my husband’s hometown. As the waiter was taking us to our table, my son, Michael, grabbed a french fry from a woman’s plate at the table next to us. Obviously, this was not acceptable and I’m not going to say it was okay for him to do this. I immediately apologized and explained to her that he is autistic. First, I never, ever explain to anyone that is he autistic. I’m sorry, I don’t think I should have to that. Second, the look of absolute horror on her face was enough to send me over the edge already. She continued to give me dirty looks as we sat down and I said to my husband, “This is not going to be pretty.” A few minutes later, the waiter went over to her table, picked up her plate, turned around, and in Spanish stated to my husband, “Because of what your son did, I’ll have to order her a new plate.” So, he continued to stand there and my husband responded to him, “Okay, so what are you trying to say?” He was essentially telling us that we would have to pay for her food. At that point, my husband said, “Let’s go,” leaving the money on the table. We were not going to sit next to this woman who continued to make faces and remarks repeatedly.
As we were leaving, my husband went to speak to the owner who apologized and stated we did not have to cover the cost of the food - that was the waiter’s mistake. He explained that some people are just really picky about people touching their food. This is completely understandable. However, we insisted on paying for it but we would not continue to sit next to her. Continued in comments
Instagram post 2177771063415629726_9061533185 Good morning friends and Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week! I spent the week adjusting to the fact that my Disney trip is now over! We really had a great time and it just went way too fast. I hope that we will get the chance to return in a few years. Until then, I’ll have all of our wonderful memories we made. Of course, I will be writing all about it on my blog.
Unfortunately, there has been a little change in plans for tomorrow's Live Instagram Holiday Tutorial. We do plan on rescheduling and I'll let you know as soon as I have the date and time. In the meantime, I invite you to check out Jillyan Scarpa's work over on her Instagram account as well as her website, skinbarandpaint.com.
Next week, I'll be sharing all about our Disney trip on the blog and in the meantime, I thought I'd share a few photos with you. These are from our Afternoon Tea at The Grand Floridian. Instagram post 2174904480322204345_9061533185 Good morning friends - What a morning! First, I really thought the boys had off from school today and guess what? They didn't LOL! I need another vacation! Thank God my husband is off today to help me get them ready and out the door! I am working today but only for a few hours. Last night, I posted about the Live Holiday makeup tutorial with MAC makeup artist, Jill Scarpa for September 16th. Obviously that is the wrong date. It's this Saturday, November 16th at 3:30, on Instagram Live. I hope everyone can join us. Did I mention I need another vacation? Second, last week I had some technical issues with my blog and a scheduled post did not go live. So, today on my blog, I'm happy to introduce my friend Melanie Rose. Melanie's blog, "The M Word," will go live in a few months, so please go over, say hello and show her some love.
Lastly, our Disney vacation was awesome! I will be writing all about it over the next few weeks, sharing everything with you. I'm already trying to figure out when we can possibly return. Have a great week! #autism #autismmom #specialneeds #autismdads #autismfamilies #Disney #disneyaddict #disneygeek #mommyblogger #Imissdisney #autismawareness
