I have been thinking about where and what I wanted to do in the beauty section of my blog this year. Towards the end of 2018, I started to re-evaluate my obsession with beauty products. I realized as I started decluttering and re-organizing my stuff that I have such a large collection of products that it would take me forever to use each one of them. So, I decided that this year I wanted to concentrate on the products that I currently own and try to avoid purchasing any new items unless it’s an item I ran out of and need to replace. I can’t even believe I am saying this because it’s not going to be easy for me not to jump on the next new foundation, eye shadow palette, etc., but I am ready for the challenge.
With that said, I thought I would talk about how I believe I managed to collect so much stuff over the years. I’ve always been searching for the perfect foundation, mainly because I’ve always wanted to have the look of flawless skin, who doesn’t? In the past, I’ve spent so much money trying to find flawless skin in a bottle it’s ridiculous. Now, in my 50s, I am wiser and realize there is only so much a foundation can do. Nevertheless, I realize that skin care and prep are key to having almost flawless foundation coverage.
So, for my 2019 beauty challenge (wish me luck), I will be focusing on the makeup products I already own. I feel like by putting this out there, I can be held accountable. So, I am sure you are reading this and thinking, how will we know if Joann is keeping her word? Good question! If I sat here and listed all my products, my kids would be out of college by then and we all know I don’t have the time for that. So, you will have to trust me. And let me throw in this disclaimer right now, I’m only doing this for make-up products. It would kill me to have to do this challenge for skin care, nails or hair products.
So, are there any make-up junkies out there ready to join me in my 2019 beauty challenge? Anyone?
